Scott Benson defeats Andrew Gorton by TKO to win in the second round of X-agon, Mixed Martial Arts
Friday, 18 April 2008 10:44

On Friday, November 30, Scott Benson of the Academy of Combat, and Andrew Gorton fought a tremendous Catch weight match in the second round of their X-agon Mixed Martial Arts Championship.
Both fighters were scheduled to fight respective opponents in their weights, however, both their opponents dropped out at the last minute and consequently Scott at 77kg and Andrew at 84kg agreed to fight each other.
The fight started with the pair trading a little standup, Scott working powerful leg kicks and Andrew countering over the top with the classic right hand counter. A period was spent clinching to get the best outcome from the inevitable takedown to ground, Andrew obtaining the superior ground position, but Scott defended well and the first round ended with Andrew clearly dominating.
The second round started similar to the first with the trading of leg kicks and right hands, however, this time when it went to ground Scott was dominating, demonstrating tremendous Jiu Jitsu skills, almost finishing with an armbar from back control at the end of the round, Andrew was clearly tired taking some time to get back to his corner.
The third round saw Scott coming out fast and after trading a little more standup took it to ground, he obtained the dominant position and pounded Andrew with big right hands, from the mount, until the referee stopped the match with Andrew unable to defend the attack.
This fight was a tremendous experience for Scott who clearly stepped his Mixed Martial Arts game up another level.
Well done Scott! You make us all proud.

Win or lose MMA/BJJ has taught  me to aim high, never give up and that every problem has a solution and for that I'm forever  grateful.

...I would recommend this course (N.A.S.T.I Self Defence) to everyone, male, female and child alike,  as it covers a range of scenarios on multiple levels.

I found it to be invaluable towards my  attitude to the way I live and go about my life; where once I froze in the face of fear, I now don't  give it the time of day.
